Civil servants who ride motorcycles without helmets will be prosecuted, the district Police chief, Godance Ovuru, has warned. “Don’t complain when I take you to court. Blame the law, which your MPs put in place,” said Ovuru during the handover of 10 motorcycles to community development officers at the district headquarters. He noted that public servants should be exemplary by respecting the law.

Kyamate forest reserve will be cut down to improve security, according to Peter Rwakifari, the resident district commissioner. This followed complaints from residents that the forest was a hideout for thieves, who at night stage road-blocks at Kyamate bridge near the forest and rob people. Rwakifari, who also chairs the district security committee, was closing the town council’s budget meeting.
