FORMER national champion Ponsiano Lwakataka has cried foul after the disqualification of his wife Rose Lwakataka from Jomayi MOSAC rally on Sunday. The stewards excluded Lwakataka from the event for being time barred in a night meeting after the rally.

The aggressive female driver was seven minutes time barred but continued with the race after she repaired her car.
“It’s very unfair. For the good of the sport they normally spare drivers when they are time-barred. But why wasn't she spared like others?”Lwakataka, who funds and manages his wife, lamented

“She even asked officials whether to continue with the race and they allowed her. She toiled and at the end of the day she didn’t get a point. I am really demoralised.”

Rose had fought back from 13th to in fifth position at the end of the two-day rally.

The qualification leaves her in second position in the national championship with 215 points, 65 behind leader Ahmed Ashraf. Ronald Ssebuguzi, who won the MOSAC rally, is third with 200 points.

Another female driver Laila Mayanja is also still in contention at 160 points with two events left on the calendar.
