Private investors need to inject more money in the education sector to develop the country, the elderly and disability state minister has said. Sulaiman Madada said the Government had waived taxes on private schools’ incomes, as a sign or goodwill for the sector. Speaking at Yale High School recently, Madada advised private investors not only establish schools in urban areas, but rural ones as well, because there is ample land and children who need quality education there.

‘UPE, USE affect other sectors’

The Government’s commitment to develop the education sector through the Universal primary (UPE) and secondary (USE) education programmes has led to other sectors lagging behind, the energy minister has said. Daudi Migereko said rural electrification, for instance, was not performing to expectation for lack of funds. Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a power line at St. Bernard Kasaala Primary School recently, Migereko said since UPE and USE were started to partly reduce poverty levels, parents with children at school-going age should take them to school immediately.

utl gives schools computers
KIRUHURA
uganda telecom limited (utl) has donated 10 computers to Karo High School and Rushere Primary School. utl’s David Ssenyonjo handed the computers over to the headteachers recently. Ssenyonjo said the company had given out over 500 computers to schools, to build technological advancement in education. He said disadvantaged schools are given top priority.
