Lately, the swimwear industry is making sexy swimsuits that look better outside the pool than in it. But just because thongs and bikinis are available in large sizes does not mean that you must wear one. Think of your body shape and weight and choose a costume that suits you.

If your belly hides the fact that you are wearing a bikini, consider staying at home. Moreover, your attire must reflect your age. Remember, not all of us can look like 15-year-olds, so relax and do not wear yourself out trying to fit into the tiniest bikini there is.

The trick lies in downplaying your negatives and emphasising your strengths. You might want to consider the following tips the next time you go out to buy a swimsuit.

Big bust: Swimsuits with under wire are ideal for people with sizeable breasts. The under-wire supports the breasts, giving them a fuller look. In case under-wire is uncomfortable, you can wear a swimsuit with a halter top (held with a strap passing behind the neck, leaving the back and shoulders bare). It supports the breasts and better still, it is trendy.

Boyish/athletic shape: A halter top allows you to show off those great arms. In case you have a rather straight body, try out swimsuits that give a feminine touch like those with bows, ruffles and ties. This will add curves to your physique and give you a more feminine look.

Flat chest: A V-neckline will take the attention away from your breasts. It is even better in terms of creating cleavage you did not know you had. The swimsuit should fit well, lest it gives away your little secret.

Pear shape: If you are small on the upper part of the body and large at the bottom, wear darker colours at the bottom and lighter one on top, to draw attention away from the bottom. Also ensure that the swimsuit fits well on the hips. This will give you a slimmer and sexier look.

Next time you go out shopping, try buying a swimsuit with polka dots and bright colours; they are stylish. Avoid swimsuits with metallic fabrics. They make diving more dangerous.
