IT was all joy and happiness as the pupils of Duhaga Girls Primary School in Hoima staged a music, dance and drama concert at their school last Saturday.

The children who were smartly dressed in checked green uniforms also recited beautiful poems for their visitors. The visitors had come to the school to talk about an important celebration for the school — the centenary.

Centenary means 100 years. The pupils appealed to the visitors to assist them and put up new buildings at their school, which is getting old.

The parents, led by the headmaster, Jackson Kaija, donated some money towards the construction of the new building. Items such as fruits, mats and baskets were also sold to raise money to prepare for the centenary celebrations.

The function was attended by Sara Ntiro, the first woman to get a degree in Uganda. She is an old girl of the school.
