IN THE RUCK
With Peter Ofory

Corporate companies have supported local rugby over the years but this has not been enough especially in the often youth structures which extend to primary and secondary schools.

Kyadondo RFC, despite losing their second pitch to a private developer, have taken their crusade to the first tier rugby nations.

Bracknell offer kit While the U-13 Kyadondo totos toured the UK in 2007, a UK-based Ugandan prop
Gideon Kamya who plays for Bracknell RFC, a South West Division I team in England, was forging links to channel support by way of rugby kit and assorted
equipment to Uganda.

In September 2007, Ian Hallam, the chairman of Bracknell RFC, paid a visit to Kyadondo to assess the
results of their donations.

He was impressed with what he saw and directed Allan Gunner, another Bracknell official, to work
hand in hand with Gideon Kamya in ensuring more kit is channelled to Kyadondo.

Salabed joins the fray DHL and Salabed International have airlifted
the equipment to Kyadondo.

There are future plans for Bracknell and other UK clubs to tour Uganda and give technical assistance.

If other clubs can borrow a leaf from Kyadondo, the knock-on effect will be tremendous for the development and expsoure of the
game in Uganda Uganda raises ‘Lomu’ Rugby Cranes shocking defensive display against a clearly fired up Madagascar
had many fans on the edge of their seats.

Allan Musoke reminded the Makis that he always scores a try irrespective of their pace and made his statement over 50 metres in the try of the game.

The day, however, belonged to Felix Lubega who destroyed anything that stood in his way. The only way the Makis could stop
him was get him out of the game in what to me was a clear red card offence.

Faced with 96kg, ball in hand and the gas to run 100 meters in 10.5 secs,.. how do you stop that?

This kid is like some reincarnation
of the great Jonah Lomu.
