NEW Forest Company (NFC) has donated two classroom blocks worth sh27m to Nsava Primary School in Bugiri.

“These projects cannot succeed and be sustainable unless the community mobilises and contributes considerably so that they feel like owners of the project,” Julian Ozanne, the New Forests Company’s (NFC) chief executive officer, said.

“When they feel like owners of the project, they will look after it,” she said.
NFC contributed sh27m, while the community contributed labour and building materials.

The classroom blocks were commissioned by Bugiri Woman Member of Parliament, Lumumba Kasule, on Monday.
According to a statement, Kasule urged parents to take their children to school, adding that it was only through education that the children can achieve their full potential and be useful in future.
She said the project would greatly contribute to development of the area and improve society’s livelihood.

New Forests Company is involved in other projects like building a new secondary school, provision of clean water, sanitation, promotion of energy-conserving stoves and giving out of over 600,000 seedlings.

It also operates in Mubende, Kiboga districts, and in Tanzania and Mozambique. It is currently planting trees, which are processed and sold as high quality timber.
