EMIRATES airlines, has scooped two international awards for the best inflight entertainment and best regional airline for Middle East and Africa.

It also emerged the first runner-up in two categories, the best new technology and best single achievement inflight entertainment.

Emirates won the accolades at the World Airline Entertainment Associations Avion Awards in California, United States recently.

“We are pleased the industry and our customers have recognised our efforts to provide them with the best possible inflight entertainment,” the airline’s divisional senior vice president, corporate communications, Mike Simon said.

“We have invested considerably in recent years to bring the best to Emirates passengers, where they can access play lists and over 1200 channels of entertainment,”
This year’s winners were established by collecting data over a period of two months and over 55,000 passengers assessed by the research firm, Skytrax.

This was the fourth consecutive year that Emirates was bagging the coveted Skytrax award. Emirates was the first airline to offer personal screens in all classes on its entire fleet.

“Emirates seem to have their name carved firmly onto this best inflight entertainment award,” the Skytrax boss, Edward Plaisted said.

“We witnessed the closest finish ever in terms of Emirates final push for first place ahead of Singapore Airlines in second.

“We congratulate Emirates for retaining their distinctive reputation in this survey category and determination to remain at the forefront of inflight entertainment concepts,” he said.
