Kisubi Brothers varsity hailed

Kisubi Brothers’ Centre of the Uganda Martyrs’ University has been commended for its role in strengthening relations between Uganda and the US.

Kisubi Brothers’ Centre of the Uganda Martyrs’ University has been commended for its role in strengthening relations between Uganda and the US.

The head of affairs at the American embassy, John Hoover, said: “The brothers’ centre is a good partner in broadening the partnership between the two governments.”

He was speaking at the university’s second graduation ceremony at Kisubi, Wakiso district recently.

The director, Bro. Francis Blouin, said the university had established a partnership with the American University of Walsh.

He said it had also attracted American volunteers and students through its exchange programme.

A total of 37 students received degrees in education and 26 received certificates in counselling.

The vice-chancellor of Uganda Martyrs’ University, Nkozi, Prof. Charles Olweny, presided over the ceremony.

He announced the establishment of a new Nkozi affiliate centre, Nile University, in West Nile.

The Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, commended the Brothers of Christian Instruction for starting the university.

The university was established in 2004 and has 365 students.
