Govt accused of neglect
ENTEBBE - The principal of the Fisheries Training Institute, Gertrude Abalo, has accused the Government of neglecting the school. “The laboratories are not functional. The institute does not have funds to buy laboratory equipment and students are mostly taught theoretically,” Abalo complained. The FTI is the only fisheries institute in Uganda and is managed by the education ministry. She said the Government’s sh3.6m monthly grant to the institute can hardly meet the school’s basic requirements. Abalo presented the problems to state minister for higher education Gabriel Opio on Monday.
