Benson kambugu When I reached Choma, Doreen was already seated, having a drink. She told me she had been there for about 15 minutes. After the pleasantries, I asked if she had a husband. “No,” she replied. She also wanted to know if I had a wife, which I answered in the nagative. She narrated that she once had a guy but separated after getting a child. “How do you feel being with me when you have another man’s child?” “The child lives with his mum,” she said. Our dinner was served. Being Baganda, we didn’t speak a lot as we were eating. We only spoke of our hobbies; she said she enjoys swimming, which she does mostly on Sundays. I told her I liked singing and dancing. “Do you think I can handle you?” I asked. “It’s all about agreeing and building a relationship, not size,” she responded. I had to leave early to take care of my one-year-old twins that their mother left with me when we separated. She wanted to know why I had not got another woman but I told her I was taking my time to take care of my children. She said she would not mistreat any child. “I can take care of you and your children very well.” “I’ll have to first study you to see if you can indeed take care of us,” I responded to her. She was generally a nice lady that any man would loved to date. Did she have all the qualities you cherish?

Some of them, but others like being energetic and God-fearing, I couldn’t establish right away. How do you intend to find that out? I’m thinking of arranging another meeting for us to interact in depth.
How far have you gone with those plans? I called her yesterday and we had a chat about it.

When he arrived, I welcomed him and told him I had been anxiously waiting for him. After exchanging pleasantries, we began discussing about our love life. He asked me whether I was married. At first, I was hesitant because I didn’t know what his intention was. So I told him I wasn’t. Then he said: “With that beauty and you don’t have a man?” I told him about a guy I met on the Internet and promised to pay me a visit. He advised me to settle with only one person in order to earn respect. He, however, told me he was still searching. What did you find appealing about him? He was honest and humorous.
Anything that did not impress you? I saw none.
So, what do we read from that? We shall be good friends.
