PRESIDENT Yoweri museveni has urged Lango sub-region leaders to guide the rural people on project evaluation to enable them engage in income-generating activities.

PRESIDENT Yoweri museveni has urged Lango sub-region leaders to guide the rural people on project evaluation to enable them engage in income-generating activities.

Museveni also advised them to teach the rural people to carry out enterprise evaluation by determining land holding of each family and identifying gainful activities.

“I must work with political, religious and other leaders to change the livelihood of our people.”

A press statement from State House said Museveni and his wife Janet, were hosting over 150 local leaders from Lango at the President’s country home in Rwakitura on Thursday.

He pointed out that the people of Lango are hardworking, progressive and were willing to cooperate.

Museveni appealed to the leaders to guide the people to shift from traditional agriculture to modern farming.

He recommended keeping of Frisian dairy cattle, fruit growing, bee keeping and fish farming to fight poverty. He discourage the culture of land fragmentation.

The LC5 chairpersons and religious leaders of Amolatar, Apac, Dokolo, Lira and Oyam districts that constitute Lango sub-region, presented their memoranda to Museveni.

They raised issues pertaining to the development of the region.
Present were ministers, Omara Atubo for lands housing and urban development and David Wakikona for northern Uganda.
