Defar record
Ethiopia’s Meseret Defar smashed the world indoor record for the 3,000m on Saturday, clocking 8:23.72mins in Stuttgart to take four seconds off the previous best time. Defar, the Olympic 5000m champion, was pushed all the way by compatriot Meselech Melkamu, who gave a run for his money.
