GORVENMENT has earmarked an extra sh22m for an extension to Dorcus Inzikuru’s house in form of a boy’s quarter.

The house, a gift given to Inzikuru for being the first Ugandan to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship in Helsinki, Finland in 2005, was due to be handed over last month.

But the improvement of the construction has delayed it. The house, being constructed by the UPDF construction unit, is located on land donated by Arua Golf Club.

“We are starting on the extension next week. We are going to construct a self-contained boy’s quarter, wall fence, parking and access roads. The construction will take about a month,” said acting chief of construction in UPDF, Maj. Besigye Bekunda.

Bekunda said that the house will be handed over as soon as the construction is complete and Inzikuru is available.
“We will only hand it over to Inzikuru. It is her house,” he stressed.

The additional cost puts the total cost of the house at sh107m. The main house was constructed at a cost of sh85m.
