BADRU Lusambya’s next opponent will be announced today at a press conference at Blacklines House in Kampala.

Boxing promoters Big Strikers International director Emmanuel Mwesigwa said the fight – an Africa Boxing Union light middleweight title defence, will take place on March 24 at Fairway Hotel.

The promoters are in the final stages of negotiations with three opponents.

The three are Tanzania’s Hassan Matmula, Ghana’s Phillip Quartey and a South African who is yet to be named.

“We want to get Lusambya a very good fighter to test his ability. We shall make a final stand on who to choose from the three on Tuesday (today),” disclosed Mwesigwa.
Lusambya easily knocked out his last opponent – Tanzania’s Fred George last month.

“This could be Lusambya’s toughest fight. We’ve finalised talks with the opponents’ promoters,” Mwesigwa assured.

Lusambya is eyeing the US to further his career. He’s for the past three weeks been seriously training under former Commonwealth and World Boxing Council International champion Justin Juuko.

His 100% winning record in 15 career fights accompanied by 14 knock outs, has made him the most successful locally based professional fighter.
