INFORMATION minister Kirunda Kivejinja has urged local councils to use the media as a channel for disseminating information to boost investment.

“Currently, there are many areas of investment in districts, but there are no clear channels of advertising them to investors,” he said, during a two-day civic education workshop for Mukono district leaders at the Community Centre, recently.

Kivejinja urged LCs to sensitise masses about government programmes, saying a lot is needed to be done for the realisation of the Bonna Bagaggawale (prosperity for all) scheme.

“The Government has already identified Post Bank as the loan givers and plans are underway to find markets for farmers.”

The ministry of information and Hans-Seidel foundation, an NGO, organised the workshop under the theme “Promotion of multiparty democracy and good governance in Uganda”.

Kivejinja said schools registered to implement Universal Secondary Education, were targeting poor people.

“Children from wealthy families can go to first world schools, but we want children from poor families to access the same education free,” he said.

Mukono RDC Deo Nsereko said the time for politicking was over. “There is time for everything. We had time to elect our leaders, but now, we have to get down to work.”

Nsereko warned the district leadership against engaging in wrangles, saying this would undermine development.
