SOCCER - Uganda Junior League has secured sh10m worth sponsorship to kickoff their 2007 sports season. The money that was sh2m each contribution from Tembo Steels, Ice Mark Africa, Kobil, Party Time and Securex Agencies is meant to help the children sports organisation implement their 2007 programmes.

Cooper out

DARTS - Cooper Darts Club has pulled out of the Kampala zone league. The former giants that were formerly bankrolled by Cooper Motors have been limping ever since the sponsors pulled out. Club boss David Hunter confirmed their merger with Old Kampala-based Me-Ups.

Netball novices at Nakivubo

NETBALL - The national netball novices are set for this Saturday and Sunday at Nakivubo Stadium. The two day bonanza, which only features teams that have played in the novices for a period of not more than three years, will open the Uganda Netball Federation calendar. Federation secretary Rosette Kaala said the event mostly involves school teams.

Schools’ event

BASKETBALL - The National Schools Basketball championship qualifiers begin this weekend in all the four regions of the country. The championship, organised by National Schools Basketball Association will see all playing schools converge at different venues in all four regions in the country before the finals in May.
