NAMUTUMBA-The district has received sh420m under the schools facilitation grant for construction of classrooms. The chief administrative officer, Margaret Wanyenze, on Friday said the money was part of the sh600m meant for the construction of 42 classrooms, pit latrines and purchase of desks for schools in the six subcounties of the district.


Dutch priest returns home

KABERAMAIDO-One of the longest-serving catholic priests in Uganda, the Rev. Fr. Meinard Franciscus Der Hulst, has returned to Holland after 53 years. Hulst, 77, came to Uganda in 1954 as a Mill Hill missionary and spent most of his time in the district. He also served in Tororo and Mbale in eastern Uganda. In appreciation of his service, the residents last week held a send-off party for him at the uganda Manufacturers association Hall in Kampala.
