He might be commander-in-chief of the Police, but Maj. Gen Kale Kaihura’s shooting skills are a little rusty.

At the pass out of the Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Katakwi district recently, the high ranking army officer was no match for the battle-hardened Col Joseph Arocha, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces commander in Katakwi and in-charge of the ASTU training.

The two army men engaged in a target shooting competition together with Lt Jessica Arupo, the Women MP for Katakwi and Usuk county MP, Oleny Charles.

Each of them was given 15 bullets to shoot inside a bull’s eye 100 metres away.

While a shaky Kaihura managed to shoot only seven, Colonel Arocha managed to shoot 12 out of the 15 bullets inside the bull’s eye.

Arupo came third, having directed six bullets inside, while MP Oleny came last with two inside.

It is no wonder Kaihura had earlier protested the inclusion of Arocha, arguing that the man was always in the field and that it would be unfair for him to compete with them.
