HE may not have been appreciated fully last year, but that has not deterred singer Jose Chameleone from making huge strides this year.

His latest two releases, Gwewesimisa and Atasiga Nsigo, officially hit the market late last month through Kasiwukira Studios.

Unlike his previous musical work, the singer returns to his original musical style on these two songs. They are reminiscent of such club bangers as Bei Kali.

Like most of his songs, the new songs are about everyday issues, but also counsel troubled fans along the way. Gwewesimisa begins with a 40 seconds tantalising instrumental that introduces the singer’s hoarse voice.

The lyrics are as good as the melodies. He employs different musical instruments that include drums and whistles, which bring in shrills as the song reaches its climax.

Gwewesimisa is an attack on braggarts who boast of other peoples’ property, yet they have nothing to show for themselves.

By its first week out, Atasiga Nsigo had already become a radio favourite. The message is as good as the melody; it has the typical urban contemporary beat that forces fans to get down on the dance floor.

Chameleone is the type of artiste who wants to deliver whenever he gets a chance. “I sing what I see; for example when I sing ‘Befuula’, it is a common fact, people cannot be trusted,” he says.

During the launch of Karim Nsubuga’s Sexy Lady album at Aero Beach in Entebbe recently, Chameleone sang the songs and excited fans showered him with money, as they screamed.
Atasiga Nsigo is driving fans wild.

The song is about reaping high yields when you did not plant any seed.
Chameleone says although the industry is saturated with all sorts of songs, good music will always find its way through and that is what he refers to as good ‘nsigo’ (seeds).

He insists that he is not inspired by competition, it is by the perfection of the skills in music.

He has realised what his fans crave for, that is why he has gone back to his roots.
