THE former chairman of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Hajji Ali Adrama, on Wednesday admitted signing some documents that were later used to transfer two council plots of land to a private company owned by Basajjabalaba.

Adrama said this while being cross examined by Muzamiru Kibedi, the lawyer representing the Mufti, Sheikh Ramadhan Mubajje, Edris Kasesene and Hassan Basajjabalaba. Mubajje and his co-accused are on trial for allegedly selling plots 30 and 102 on William Street in Kampala.

“I signed the memorandum of understanding to sub lease the plots to Haks Express Ltd. I was not aware that the supreme council did not have a lease for plot 30 William Street. I had never seen the land title,” Adrama told Buganda Road Court presided over by chief magistrate Margaret Tibulya

He, however, added that he did not know the implications of signing the documents or that they would later be used in selling council property. Adrama said Basajjabalaba was his deputy.
