The trial of Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and other People’s Redemption Army (PRA) suspects on treason charges will resume on June 4.

The other suspects are Besigye’s brother Joseph Musaasizi Kifeefe, who was admitted to Mulago Hospital with anaemia, Patrick Okiring, Yahaya Amir Asega, Idd Ahmed Yunus, John Arike, Bruhan Driatre Iwago, Samson Agupio and James Kabaka Tabuga. According to a production warrant issued by the Deputy Registrar of the Criminal Division, Roy Byaruhanga, addressed to the officer in charge of Luzira Upper Prison, the case will be heard by Justice Eldad Mwangusya.

The proceedings of the case stalled when the suspects sought the interpretation of the Constitution on whether Alfred Kamudulu and other former commanders of the Lord’s Resistance Army rebel group, led by Joseph Kony, were free to testify against them. But the court gave the state a go-ahead.
