SIX of the seven Buganda kingdom royals, who had sued Kabaka Ronald Mutebi (above) over property administration, have pulled out of the case. The twist emerges a week after the case was filed in the High Court. This leaves the 80-year-old Namasole (King mother), Sarah Natoolo of Lukuli in Makindye division, as the only complainant.

No reason was given for the withdrawal from the case where the Kabaka, is being sued together with the Buganda land board, the Uganda Land Commission, the commissioner for land registration and Namasole Juliana Ndibalekera of Kanyanya, a Kampala suburb.

The plaintiff is aggrieved by Mutebi’s continued control of chunks of mailo land that allegedly do not belong to him or the kingdom.

Natoolo wants court to bar the Kabaka and the other accused from administering the land in question.

Those who withdrew include Prince Alexander Ssimbwa, Naalinnya Edisa Manjeri Nabweteme, naalinnya Elizabeth nakabiri, Princess Juliana Muggale, Patrick Kimera Luswata and Prince David Namugala Mawanda.

Mawanda is the heir to the late Prince George Mawanda Chwa, who is Mutebi’s uncle and was a prominent landlord in Makindye Division.

The Land Division registrar of the High Court, Masalu Musene, prepared summons to be served to Mutebi requiring him to file his defence in 15 days.
