<b>Leaders tipped on contractors<br></b>BUSHENYI - Local leaders are concerned about contractors who are forging councillors’ signatures for payment. Kiiza Mbonimpa, the district engineer, on Tuesday told the councillors that the contractors had also forged stamps for the sub-county chairmen.

BUSHENYI - Local leaders are concerned about contractors who are forging councillors’ signatures for payment. Kiiza Mbonimpa, the district engineer, on Tuesday told the councillors that the contractors had also forged stamps for the sub-county chairmen. He cited Burere, Mitooma and Bitereko sub-counties. The Bitereko councillor had earlier refused to recommend payment to a contractor because of shoddy work.

Language board sworn in

KABALE - The councillors on Thursday inaugurated the district language board to promote the teaching of local languages in schools. John Tugumisirize, the district inspector of schools, is the interim chairman. The the district chairman, Adison Kakuru, who presided over the function, also lamented about the increasing environmental degradation in the district and the minimal pit-latrine coverage.
