FORMER FUFA secretary Haruna Mawanda has bounced back into sports as National Council of Sports (NCS) board member.

Mawanda, who was largely blamed for orchestrating most of the controversial decisions made by former FUFA boss Denis Obua, is among the ten members on the board of the local sports supreme body.

State sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi named the new board on Friday.
“I urge the board to live up to the expectations of management and development of sports,” Bakkabulindi said in a June 1 release.

Anthony Katamba replaces Wilson Tumwine as board chairman, and will be in office for the next two years.

Penninah Kabenge, Charles Egou, and George Odwong are the only members of the old board who have been returned.
Super League team Victors FC owner Col Jackson ‘Bell’ Tushabe, Patrick Okanya, retired FIFA referee Kigongo Bukenya, Badru Sabila, John Ssekyanzi and Julius Zziwa are the new faces.

Bakkabulindi urged the board to provide guidance in the implementation of the national Physical Education and Sports Policy.
