THE health state minister, Richard Nduhura, has told organisations dealing in health insurance schemes to provide better services. He said the ministry would soon come up with a law controlling the health insurance schemes.

“Communities should be sensitised on health insurance.” Nduhura was on Friday officiating at celebrations to mark 10 years of existence of the Uganda Health Cooperative in Bushenyi district.

He said the Government would soon introduce community health insurance schemes. Nduhura explained that 58% of the population was paying for health costs, while 20% were benefiting from the Government’s health services and 28% were surviving on donor funding.
