Mbire, is it going to be an airstrip or helipad?

Prominent businessman and chairman MTN Uganda, Charles Mbire, is an enterprising man and there’s proof to that effect. Recently, Mbire opened Afroalpine Pharma, a $4m (sh7b) factory in Kabale, which manufactures Antimicilin Combination Therapy (ACT), used to make Coartem, an anti-malaria drug.

Just months later, our snoops have confirmed, the mogul is in the process of constructing an airstrip at his plush country home in Kabale. The airstrip, we are told, will be the first of its kind in the Great Lakes region and is meant to ease air transport to and from Kabale. He has already acquired over five acres of land adjacent to the home. Engineers have been seen at the site and grading of the airstrip is scheduled to start soon.

Other sources, however, claim he is putting up a helipad. If you ask us, that means Mbire is in possession of a private chopper!

We have also independently established that plans for Mbire to turn his country villa into a resort hotel, especially for visitors interested in touring the western region, are in very advanced stages.

Mbire’s splendid home overlooks Kabale town and commands a panoramic view of the picturesque countryside from its vantage location atop the hill.

The house is located in an affluent neighbourhood shared by such moneyed families as the Nzeis (of Pepsi Cola) and the famous White Horse Inn.
