EDITOR—The Bulisa and Kiboga saga serves as a clear testimony that the tribe is everything in Uganda. one should not think that tribalism only affects peasants in Kibaale, Kiboga or Bulisa.

EDITOR—The Bulisa and Kiboga saga serves as a clear testimony that the tribe is everything in Uganda. one should not think that tribalism only affects peasants in Kibaale, Kiboga or Bulisa.

Even the elite are affected as seen in the predominant ethnicities in some Government departments! The Baganda in Mengo saw it ages ago and know that only ‘sons of the soil’ can serve them patriotically, hence the Federo demand.

We could exploit these tribal passions to make compatible peoples, say the Acholi and Langi, work for common causes which would be aggregated at the national level. We should stop living this lie that we can love Uganda more than our areas of origin.
