AFTER successfully leading Express FC from the monster that is Super League relegation, coach Sam Ssimbwa is confident he can walk off with a piece of silverware as well.

Ssimbwa gets a chance to further his miracle-performing at Express when he takes on league champions URA at Mandela stadium, Namboole today. Express are the Kakungulu Cup holders.

“We have improved both in tactics and team-work. It is no longer the side that was fighting against relegation (three months ago) but it is now a team fighting for a cup,” said Ssimbwa.

Under Ssimbwa, Express have evolved into virtually the most feared local team after a league run that brought in three wins and a draw after he took charge at Wankulukuku.

URA was the only team Ssimbwa failed to beat after he was called in to rescue Express’ rapidly sinking soccer ship.

But league champions URA — seeking a double themselves — boast of experienced stars led by dead- ball specialist Phillip Obwiny, who will prove a hard nut to crack.

Despite losing midfielder Noah Kasule to the professional ranks, URA’s midfield manned by Manco Kaweesa, Sam Mubiru and Davis Kalungi has given several coaches a tough test.

Police, the other contender, will host KCC in the second leg tomorrow.
