The Police have deregistered 19 vehicles in dangerous mechanical condition. The traffic chief, Francis Okello, said five coasters, 10 omnibuses, three tipper trucks and a saloon car were deregistered on Thursday. Okello said the operation, which started on August 14, covered Kaliro-Bunya- Luuka road and that of Jinja-Bugiri. He advised drivers to repair their vehicles.

Patients in Ward One at Jinja Hospital on Wednesday received a donation worth sh1m from the Indian Association. The items included bed sheets, bread, washing soap, biscuits, milk, and liquid soap. The chairman, Anant Parmar, said the aid would boost the welfare of the beneficiaries. Charles Tumushime, the hospital principal administrator, commended the group for the aid. He urged them to help patients in other wards.
