Leave Museveni alone! Twenty years is too short

EDITOR—I have been reading about the succession issue of President Museveni and I would like to give my opinion. Uganda has seen turmoil in the form of Idi Amin, Milton Obote and Kony’s LRA since shortly after we gained independence from Britain in 1962.

All that chaos has left Ugandans deeply scarred and in most cases people are still hurting over lost relatives and many other lives cut short by bad leaders.

In 1986, a new era dawned on Uganda.
Because Museveni has a vision of transforming Uganda into a modern economy, he needs time and strong structures to do this and the right technocrats. this cannot be achieved in a short period like 20 years.

Behavioural change is not an easy thing. It takes time. The only people who find that a problem are the disgruntled and lazy ones who want power for the sheer sake of it.

We cannot have many presidents with different agendas succeeding each other within a short time and hope to
reach the heights as the true pearl of Africa.
