THE Super Division Clubs Association (SDCA) executive will resign today to pave way for new elections.

A top official in SDCA revealed yesterday that members will in today’s meeting, set to start at 10am at Nakivubo, amend the constitution to be in line with the new FUFA constitution.

SDCA secretary Kavuma Kabenge said that although they still had time in office, the order of the day called for fresh elections in order to move forward.

“It might have an adverse impact but our constitution has to be in line with the federation. We have to elect tomorrow or within two months time. Perhaps some members might stay around to get a soft landing,” said Kabenge.

Kabenge said that they will suggest that the league starts January 20. He said teams will be grouped.

“We are looking at this format as a cost effective format and more competitive. What we are going to see is how to improve the format to look more like a league instead of a cup.”

The meeting will also discuss an amendment in the rules and regulations governing the league.

Meanwhile, FUFA has asked secretaries of Super Division clubs to submit copies of their constitutions as they consolidate plans to restore order to Ugandan football. “We expect the 15 clubs to provide the documents before the league starts in the last week of this month,” FUFA public relations officer Aldrine Nsubuga, said.

He said FUFA needed the constitutions to guide it when making rulings on conflicts, and to help regulate the exodus of players from clubs.

“We want to establish that the clubs operate legally and have properly laid down structures of administration.”

Nsubuga said the mismanagement of the game in the past was partly caused by absence of legal structures at various levels.

“FUFA has taken the first step, it is now run under a new constitution, the clubs also have to be run constitutionally,” Nsubuga said.
