SIR — For a long time Uganda’s politics has been dominated by people who have failed in their businesses and professions.

That is why I welcome the candidature of Peter Ssematimba, a man who revolutionised FM radio stations and started his own and shot to the top in just one year, according to new vision readers. For the first time the city is having someone who has made his own money.
It is refreshing to see a successful young man joining the management of our society. It would be encouraging to see other successful people joining our politics.
Africa has suffered a lot because of ideologically and financially bankrupt politicians. In the west people join politics to protect their wealth while in Africa they do so to look for it!
