UGANDA Golf Union (UGU) stroke-play champion Stephen Kasaija, Godfrey Mande and Denis Anguyo plan to join the professional ranks soon. Their switch will enable Uganda to finally get the required numbers to form a professional golfers’ association this season.

Kasaija, Mande and Anguyo increased the number of players aspiring to turn professional to five. There must be at least four players for the association to be registered.

The trio joined Uganda Open champion Charles Yokwe and Deo Akope who quit amateur golf last month.

Akope and Yokwe who were due to apply for membership in the Kenya professional association no longer need to go to Kenya.

Uganda Golf Club captain Daniel Kagwe confirmed that the professional association will be in place.“The professionals will work hand in hand with the union but theirs will be an autonomous body,” he said.
