ARUA — Three men charged with the murder of the former Nebbi district Police commander, Bonnie Zziwa, were on Friday remanded in Arua Prison after appearing before Chief Magistrate Gabriel Nyipir. The suspects are Paidha-based businessmen Muzamil Imbaga, Charles Omony Atecho from Jupanyondo and Swaib Alihza Okua from Tevile. Zziwa was stabbed to death on December 23 as he escorted a stranger he had found in his compound to the Police station.

KAMPALA — The striking post-graduate students at Mulago Hospital have resolved to offer emergency services as the Ministry of health looks into their grievances. The students’ leader, Dr. Daniel Zzake, said yesterday they started working on Monday in selected departments such as the Acute Care Unit and the Casualty Unit. The 180 students went on strike on December 21 last years over their accommodation and allowances.

MASAKA — DP parliamentary candidate for Kalungu West, J.B. Kakooza has advised supporters of the G6 main political parties to calmly wait for the outcome of talks on fielding one presidential candidate. Addressing residents of Kyamuliibwa on Monday, Kakooza told his supporters not to be divided by the delayed decision. Kakooza is a former worker of the National Social Security Fund.
