Owino tender up for grabs

Kampala City Council (kcc) has advertised the tender for management of St. Balikuddembe Market (Owino), KCC’s spokesman, Herbert Ssemakula, has said.

Kampala City Council (kcc) has advertised the tender for management of St. Balikuddembe Market (Owino), KCC’s spokesman, Herbert Ssemakula, has said.
Ssemakula said everybody was free to apply for the tender.
“Even Godfrey Kayongo applied last time but he did not win,†he said.
Kayongo got the first tender to manage St. Balikuddembe Market.
The market has been under Basajjabalaba's management.
KCC has been under criticism for the seeming ease with which the group wins tenders.
Last year, the market vendors went on strike over what they called unjustified increases in rates.
However, KCC supported the management.
