UPC presidential candidate Miria Kalule Obote (above) yesterday refuted media reports that she was sick and bedridden, writes Charles Ariko. Addressing journalists at the party office at Uganda House, Kampala, Miria said, “As you can see, I am fine. Very fine. Contrary to what you write in your papers.” She accused the media of not giving her objective coverage.

Strike ends

A STRIKE by post-graduate students at Mulago Hospital has been called off, ending a month of staff shortage at the hospital.
The students’ chief, Dr. Daniel Zzake, said yesterday that the strike ended on Monday after they were satisfied with the progress being made by the health ministry to avail their allowances, which partly sparked off the strike.

Besigye vows
FDC presidential candidate Kizza Besigye has vowed to sack all corrupt officials working under the government of President Yoweri Museveni, reports Frank Mugabi.
Addressing rallies in Nebbi on Sunday, Besigye (below) said if he wins this month’s polls, he will ensure that all officers, starting with ministers, who have been embezzling public funds, are sacked.
