CRANES midfielder Dan Obote finally signed a three-year lucrative contract with South African Premier Champions Kaizer Chiefs yesterday.

According to the player’s agent Ivica Stankovic, Obote impressed at Chiefs during his three-week trial stint but will only play for them next season.

“He has signed a three deal with Kaizer Chiefs but can not play this season because they have already exhausted their foreign player quota of five,” Stankovic said.

He stated that Obote will consequently turn out for fourth-placed first division outfit Vasco Da Gama on loan for the remaining part of the season.

Obote becomes the fourth Ugandan international to join the South African league after Timothy Batabaire, Posnet Omony (Bloemfontein Celtic) and David Obua (top), whose solo effort earned Chiefs a 1-0 win over PSG log leaders Mamelodi Sundwons.

Obua’s remarkable scoring performances against Chiefs’ fellow title contenders continued on Wednesday night as he converted a first half penalty.

The game that ensured Sundowns’ lead was cut to two points, provided end to end action, with the large crowd at the FNB Stadium kept enthralled with the entertaining dual between Obua and Josta Dladla at Soccer City.
