THE national team at the opening ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games will have a traditional look, unlike the one at the 2004 Athens Olympics that matched in western style suits. According to UOC’s Salim Musoke, they are looking to an attire that will accommodate most of the tribes on the team.

Uganda hosts
THE Uganda Amateur Handball Association is set to host this year’s edition of the East and Central Africa Handball junior championship in April. The annual competition will attract regional teams for a week at Kibuli from April 23-28. UAHF president Abby Mubiru said the body was on course fro revival.

Teams camp
THE national athletics teams that will compete in the East Africa cross country championship have entered residential training in Bukwa district. The regional event will take place tomorrow at Entebbe Golf course and Uganda will field both men and women categories.

Bikers tour
A team of 12 Norwegian cyclists completed a two-week Tour for Peace of Uganda and Kenya in Kampala yesterday. The bikers aged between 20 and 80 were seen off by president of Uganda Cycling Association (UCA) Robert Kiwendo in a morning farewell in Kololo yesterday. Chairman Bike for Peace Tore Naerland said that their mission was to promote peace in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. The bikers rode from Nairobi through Malaba to Kampala.
