The vice-chancellor of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono, the Rev. Prof. Stephen Noll, has appealed to the government to waive taxes on fuel

The vice-chancellor of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono, the Rev. Prof. Stephen Noll, has appealed to the government to waive taxes on fuel, reports Ebenezer Bifubyeka.

“I urge the government to provide ‘tax-shedding’ just like load-shedding. At Mukono, we use generators to keep our computers, water pumps and lights functioning. We are using over 1,000 litres of diesel per week,” he said.

Noll said this on Friday during the first graduation ceremony of Bishop Stuart University at Kakoba in Mbarara municipality, where 188 students (eight were female) received degrees, diplomas and certificates of UCU. Four students got first class degrees. The graduates included former Mbarara town clerk Twinoburyo Omwaana-womuntu, 64.
