ELECTORAL Commission (EC) chief Eng. Badru Kiggundu has assured voters in Adjumani district that the commission expects today’s woman MP polls to be a success. Kiggundu was on Tuesday addressing the district leaders, candidates and their supporters and agents at Zawadi Hotel in Adjumani town. The EC chairman has pitched camp in the district to closely monitor the poll that was postponed after the death of one of a candidate, Clara Vuni, in a motor accident in February.

Kibaki orders

KENYAN President Mwai Kibaki has declared tomorrow a national holiday following the recent plane crash in which the country lost 14 people, and other sad events in the country. In a statement issued by public service secretary Francis Muthaura, Kibaki has declared the day a national prayer day .
Violence has escalated in pastoralist districts of the country since the plane crash,  with 15 people reported killed as insecurity continued to take its toll in most parts of the country.

Veto dropped

OUT-GOING Tororo Municipality MP Apollo Yeri Ofwono has abandoned the idea of challenging the election of Sanjay Tanna.
Yeri said although his team had gathered overwhelming evidence to produce in court, the  elders and the lawyers he consulted about the matter advised him to drop the matter. He said he dropped the petition for the sake of peace.
