CRANES star David Obua’s agent, Ivica Stankovic, has refuted reports linking the Kaizer Chiefs player with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Obua has for two weeks been linked to the African Champions League champions by the Egyptian press.

Stankovic told South Africa’s daily Kick Off that the Ugandan international was too good to move to another African country.

“That is pure speculation. There is no way that David will move to Egypt. He is too good. Quality players like David move to Europe,” Stankovic said.

“David’s focus is on finishing the league with Kaizer Chiefs.”
Obua’s current contract expires in 2008 and Stankovic insisted that the Chiefs star would stay at the Naturena side next season before moving on.

The Serbian believes that the rumours linking Obua to Egypt started because the Cranes former coach Mohammad Abbas, is an Egyptian who was equally impressed by the player.

“May be that’s how the speculation started,” he added.

Obua will be part of the Chiefs side scheduled to face Premiership giants Manchester United in the Vodacom challenge in July.
The tournament will also have Orlando Pirates.
