<b>VCCU parades</b><br>The Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) last week paraded 22 suspects, 11 guns and a pistol allegedly netted in a countrywide crackdown on crime over the last two months.

The Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) last week paraded 22 suspects, 11 guns and a pistol allegedly netted in a countrywide crackdown on crime over the last two months.
Seized with the firearms were 337 bullets and five vehicles.
One of the vehicles was recovered after it had been robbed and vandalised early this month and four believed to have been used by armed gangsters in a string robberies and carjackings.

Nuns pledge

AN association of nuns representing 34 congregations of women in Uganda has resolved to intensify efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS.
The nuns, at a meeting held in Jinja, drew a plan of action that will include sharing knowledge and commitment with all members of Catholic women’s religious communities and training some members as counsellors in regard to the pandemic, a statement issued by Sr. Margaret Kubanze of Little Sisters of St. Francis, said.

Sudan hailed

President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the on-going peace process between southern Sudan and Khartoum and appealed to all parties to play their roles to ensure its success.
He was on Saturday meeting a Sudanese delegation led by the first Vice-President, Salva Kiir, at state House, Nakasero.
The delegation also attended the Friday swearing-in of Museveni at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. They also discussed issues related to trade and regional cooperation.
