BISHOP Matthias Sekamanya of Lugazi diocese has been installed as the new Chancellor of Uganda Martyrs' University (UMU) Nkozi. Ssekamanya, the chairman of the Uganda Episcopal conference, takes over from Bishop Paul Bakyenga of Mbarara.

He was installed by UMU patron Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala last Saturday, September 9 at UMU.

The function was attended by members of the university Governing council, academic and administrative staff and student representatives.

Wamala urged the university leadership to cultivate a spirit of unity while running the university.

“Develop a brotherly spirit and work as a team. Stand together and fall together. Never allow divisions come between you,” he said.

Wamala thanked the outgoing chancellor for a job well done.

He also thanked the outgoing Vice chancellor Prof Michel Lejeune and his deputy for their dedication to upholding UMU’s high standards.
