Uganda Bikers Association (UBA) has organised AIDS awareness rides in northern Uganda, said Milton Aineruhanga, the chairman. “We have set October/November for the rides. Our goal is to raise school fees for 90 children who are affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic,” he said. “UBA is also building a classroom block at St Joseph Nursery and Primary School, Kireka, one of the schools that the children attend,” he said.
Aineruhanga said the Northern Uganda ride will be followed by an AIDS awareness campaign in the AIDS-prone border towns of Busia and Malaba as UBA travels to Nairobi to represent Uganda in the Concours d’Elegance Automobile and Motorcycle show.
Bernard Runnebaum, the vice chairman, said, “This year, we need over sh19m to be able to sponsor the targeted number.”
