Vice-President, Prof.Gilbert Bukenya’s endeavour to fight poverty throughout the nation via various schemes has brought him prosperity.
Last Sunday, the man officially moved into his umpteenth home in Garuga, several kilometres off Entebbe Road. The magnificent structure, which commands a spectacular view of Lake Victoria, sits on a sprawling land that stretches over 10 acres and is valued at well over sh600m. The house- warming attracted government bigwigs like the Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi, Adolf Mwesige, Serapio Rukundo and Ruth Nakanbirwa.
Retired Archbishop of Kampala Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala, who presided over the house-warming mass, was so awestruck, he openly wondered why the aging VP and his wife needed such a massive house when all their children had flown out of the nest. Prof. Bukenya also has luxurious residences in Ntinda and Kakiri.
