MUSLIM women are advised not to mistreat their step children, reports Doreen Musingo.
The Imam of Jamia Mosque in Bugembe, Jinja district, Sheikh Khatimu Wamala, sounded the warning after leading prayers on Idd at Bugembe stadium on Monday.
Khatimu said many Muslim women tortured children of their co-wives who they find in the homes of their husbands. He said they denied them basic needs like food and clothes.
“Muslims are entitled to marry four wives but there is a problem of women mistreating children of their co-wives. This results in family break-ups,†Khatimu said.
He urged Muslims to take their children to schools with an Islamic foundation so that they can be taught their religion.
