Goat race proceeds go to charity

LIKE is always the case at all the Royal Ascot Goat Races, part of the proceeds from the gate, raffle and entry ticket collections go to charity. From this year’s race, sh5.7m went to four charity organisations.

LIKE is always the case at all the Royal Ascot Goat Races, part of the proceeds from the gate, raffle and entry ticket collections go to charity. From this year’s race, sh5.7m went to four charity organisations.

The Good Samiratan Home, Bakateyamba in Nalukolongo and Salaama School for the Blind, Kisoga, Mukono, shared the entry ticket proceeds with each getting sh1,054,000. Nile Breweries donated sh1.2m to Nsambya Babies Home.
Proceeds from the raffle went to The Kids League and The Mama Bag Appeal with each receiving sh1.9m and sh0.5m, respectively.

Over 40 companies sponsored the event. These included Crane Bank, Kampala Casino/utl, KQ and Open House. Last year over sh10m went to Sanyu Babie’s Home, Uganda Deaf Association, Kyadondo Rugby Club for the development of children’s rugby and Lugogo Sports Centre.
