FIONA Tugume has promised fireworks against American giant-killer, Janaya Davis in a non-title fight over six rounds at Kasarani today.
Another Ugandan, Mohammed Kizito is also raring to go against reigning World International Boxing Federation (WIBF) champion, Collins Sande Otieno of Kenya in an ABU title fight.
“I don’t fear my opponent. If I beat undefeated Sande, it will boost my rating and earn me a place among the top ten,†he said.
The ABU fight will be supervised by Uganda Professional Boxing Commission president, Celestino Mindra.
Tugume and Kizito, who arrived on Tuesday, have been training vigorously ahead of the fights under manager Abbey Mugayi.
Mugayi expressed confidence that the Ugandan pugilists will live up to their reputation and win both contests.
“These people are well prepared for the fights,†he said.
Davis was equally cocky.
“I am looking forward to good results. As an amateur, I registered impressive results that helped my professional career which currently stands at four wins and two losses,†American Davis told journalists in Nairobi.
