— The Iteso cultural leader, Emorimor Lemukol Osuban, has hailed President Yoweri Museveni for elevating Tororo county to district status. Emorimor said this would give the Iteso of Tororo an opportunity to preserve their culture. Museveni made the pronouncement at Mukuju sub-county headquarters last week.

Yumbe sued
YUMBE
— The district local council has been sued for failure to pay sh91m for examination printing. Bibali enterprises sued the district, seeking payment of interest and costs of the suit. The printing company says it was contracted by the district authorities to print examination papers for the district’s primary schools, but the fees were not paid.

Court orders
KAMPALA
— Court has directed the arrest of the Kisugu Church of Uganda Primary School headteacher over a stinking latrine. City Hall magistrate Deborah Wanume ordered the arrest of Ddumba yesterday. The headmaster had failed to report to court, after being released on bail.

Women meet
KAMPALA
— Deputy speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga yesterday left for New York, US, attend the Beijing +10 Global Review meeting. Parliament senior public relations officer Bernard Eceru said the conference was to review the political, economic and and social welfare of women.
